Youth on the move - Achieving mobility for all!
The mobility of European citizens, young people and adults is essential for their personal development and to increase their availability in the labour market. In cooperation with the Directorate-General for Education and Culture of the European Commission, the Belgian presidency is organising a conference which will thoroughly deal with the challenges in the field of European and global mobility. The EU flagship initiative Youth on the Move will therefore feature prominently on the agenda. Around 450 participants from all over Europe will participate in the conference.
The mobility of European citizens, young people and adults is essential for their personal development and to increase their availability in the labour market.
Mobility experiences are fundamental to the acquisition and development of language skills and intercultural competencies, qualities which are highly recognised by employers. From this perspective, mobility strengthens European competitiveness and is an important cornerstone of the European knowledge-based economy. The subject continues to be topical and is high on the European agenda.
In cooperation with the Directorate-General for Education and Culture of the European Commission, the Belgian presidency is organising a conference which will thoroughly scrutinise the challenges in the field of European and global mobility. The conference will be held on 5 and 6 October in the Radisson Blu Astrid hotel (Antwerp) and consists of a plenary element, interspersed with workshops.
In addition to presenting the results of the consultation round (Green Paper) on the promotion of learning mobility of young people, the EU flagship initiative Youth on the Move will feature prominently on the agenda. The workshops will tackle various elements of mobility, such as incentives; finance; types; quality; mobility and availability on the labour market; the involvement of personnel in mobility and the implementation of the European Credit Transfer System/Diploma Supplement(ECTS/DS).
