Youth conference and DG meeting
From 2 through 4 October 2010 the EU Youth Conference will be held in Leuven. Over one hundred young people will meet there to talk with one another and policymakers from the 27 EU Member States about youth and employment opportunities. Within the framework of the structured dialogue between youth and the EU, this topic was put forward by the Trio presidency Spain - Belgium – Hungary.
These three countries, together with the European Commission and the European Youth Forum will co-ordinate, through a European steering committee, the implementation of the dialogue at the European level. All 27 Member States of the EU are being asked to set up national working parties to provide a framework for the consultations with youth and youth organisations at the local, regional and national level. In Belgium, the respective youth councils are spearheading this process.
Each presidency will organise an EU Youth Conference at which the results of the national consultations will be synthesised and the groundwork laid for the next step in the process.
