The orchestra:
The Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra (BPO) is a large symphony orchestra (around 80 musicians per concert), which was created and is run through a private initiative with the main purpose of giving young musicians from our Conservatoires (higher musical training) the opportunity to play in an ensemble of this kind, on a permanent basis, while constantly striving for quality.
Other aims include promoting Belgian composers and our young soloists, which does not however exclude us from inviting soloists and other conductors with an international reputation.
The great diversity of the works included in the programmes also give the orchestra members the chance to test themselves in a great range of genres, from the classical to the contemporary, thus enhancing their training.
The ensemble has a formation of its own: 60% of the musicians are under 30, and they come from 22 different countries, including 10 EU member states.
The BPO is launching its 9th season with this concert, while enjoying wide recognition, both from the authorities, which consider it a valuable cultural player, and public and private patrons who regularly entrust them with recurrent events.
In brief, the BPO is a vibrant and permanent multicultural forum which ensures an unexpected opportunity for the musicians and high artistic standards for the audiences at the concerts.
