SynerJob Conference: "The vision for Public Employment Services for 2020"

Held on the occasion of the PES Director meeting, this conference will be organised by SynerJob, an association that brings together different public services in the areas of employment and education. The scope of this colloquium will go beyond the role traditionally attributed to PES, consisting in managing employment supply and demand, by including an additional focus on the vision for PES's role for 2020 in the capacity of labour market managers.
The primary objective of SynerJob, an association of various Belgian public employment and education services, including the VDAB, the FOREM, ADG, Actiris, and Bruxelles Formation, is to develop partnerships between offices on opposite sides of the language divide.
The main theme of the conference centres around several challenges that will dominate the PES's position and the redefinition of its mission in close connection with the EUROPE 2020 strategy, and more specifically with its decline in ‘employment’ which will be defined during the latter half of 2010, i.e. during the Belgian presidency.
One objective of the SynerJob conference will be to raise awareness and foster debate on the expanding role of the Public Employment Services as labour market managers, with priorities such as new support processes and career management.
Furthermore, in response to the European recommendations drafted with regard to Belgium, and within the framework of the national and regional responses to challenges in employment and education, the SynerJob conference include an examination of the synergies between education, guidance, and employment and on the contribution to the development of life-long training and education.
Over the course of the conference, oversight factors will be combined with more operational considerations, allowing forward-looking stakeholders to compare their ideas to the innovative strategies implemented by the European PES General Directors.
