The Belgium's trump cards

Belgium, at the heart of Europe...

Belgium lies at the heart of Europe, encircled by Germany, the Netherlands, France and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The superb road, rail, harbour and airport infrastructure brings the country closer to countless other European countries.
This strategic position has contributed to making the country indispensable from a political, economic or tourist standpoint. With its 70 kilometres of coast in the north of the country and the hilly south, Belgium overflows with tourist attractions, especially for those who wish to discover cities which are rich in art and history.

The country where life is good

It is usually said about Belgium, that life is good. The country enjoys a high quality of life, as confirmed by the high human development index (in 2007). Furthermore, Belgium holds a great many trump cards: the healthcare system, which is amongst the most developed in the world, the close-knit transport network, plenty of green space and an open and diversified economy...

An economic player which counts

Belgium, situated on an economic and urban main axis point, also has one of the most important maritime gateways in the world: the North Sea. Thanks to its three national languages (Dutch, French and German), the country occupies the top places in many European rankings for competitiveness and productivity.

The Belgian economy enjoys recognition for its great diversity, which guarantees secure stability. Most of Belgium's multicultural workers are therefore deployed in the food, vehicle or space travel sectors, or in industries which specialise in pharmaceutical products, biotechnology, transport and logistics.

The country is also characterised by its open economy. Although its population represents 0.2% of global levels, Belgium is nevertheless in the top 10 for the international trade in goods and is therefore at the top of the list of European countries. Belgium is also the most globally significant exporter of diamonds, medicines, polyethylene and carpets.
