Short sea shipping & motorways of the sea
Semi-annual working party of Maritime transport experts from the EU-Member States. At the meeting, participants will discuss the European maritime policy and the development of the Motorways of the Sea. "Motorways of the Sea" is a recent concept in logistics. It concerns cargo transport that is carried out largely by sea, but that provides door-to-door service.
Experts from the Member States and the European Commission will take part in the working parties on the mornings of 9 and 10 December. On 9 December in the afternoon, the participants will make a site visit to the Port of Zeebrugge which is highly active in the European Motorways of the Sea-programme.
The event is being organised by the Ports and Water division of the Department of Mobility and Public Works, the Port Authority of Zeebrugge and the European Commission – DG MOVE.
