Science and the City

This seminar will examine the concept of Science Cities and the way that firstly they can communicate science to citizens with examples of best practice and then examine how science cities can act as economic drivers and enhance the competitiveness of cities and regions. Following presentations from practitioners, an expert panel will open up an audience discussion and comment on the examples and suggest future strategies for ‘science cities’ and science in the city.
This seminar will involve one current FP7 project CASC (see link below) and a recently approved FP7 project PLACES (Platform of Local Authorities and Communicators engaged in science) which should start in June 2010. This will enable the seminar to directly link in with these two projects which have a direct relevance to the seminar.
