Prevention and regional and local treatment of insolvency
Within the framework of 2010, the European year of the fight against poverty and social exclusion, the Credit and Debt Research Institute is organising, in conjunction with the Wallonia Public Service and in co-operation with experts from the various Member States of the European Union or the European Economic Area, a conference devoted to the actions being taken in the regions and territorial communities of the European Union concerning the prevention, evaluation and treatment of insolvency.
The prevention and elimination of insolvency and financial exclusion are considered as one of the major elements of the fight against social exclusion and poverty and are at the heart of the concerns of the European institutions and the subject of actions common to the various member States. Among the stakes in this European year of the fight against poverty and social exclusion are the promotion of greater cohesion within society and the recognition of the advantages for everyone of a society without poverty.
Within the framework of the Belgian EU presidency and of the European year of the fight against poverty and social exclusion, the Credit and Debt Research Institute is organising a conference which will take the form of a half day and of one day of studies and discussions devoted to the actions being taken in the regions and territorial communities of the European Union concerning these matters.
In the form of workshops, this conference will deal with three themes devoted to the advisory, assistance and mediation services covering debt and insolvency set up by the communities found within the Member States of the European Union and of the European Economic Area; to the insolvency prevention actions developed by these communities and to the insolvency evaluation measures and policies developed by these communities.
The presentation of a European model will conclude the work carried out by the group of experts from the various Member States of the European Union or of the European Economic Area.
