Nine New Belgian Erasmus Mundus Course Programmes

At the universities of Ghent, Leuven and Louvain-la-Neuve, nine course programmes obtained the renowned Erasmus Mundus approval. Since 2004 the European Union has endeavoured to obtain greater international recognition for European higher education through the Erasmus Mundus Programme. The Erasmus Mundus Programme fits in with the Europe 2020 strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth.
Through the Erasmus Mundus Programme, the European Commission supports prestigious university course programmes. This year two Master degree programmes in Ghent and three in Leuven obtained the “Erasmus Mundus” label. Furthermore, two programmes at Leuven University, one in Ghent and one in Louvain-la-Neuve have now also been incorporated in the Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorates Programme.
Erasmus Mundus provides a unique package where students can read courses at three universities in different countries. In most cases these will be EU Member States, but a number of non-European universities are also involved in the programme.
Students who pass the very strict selection can count themselves lucky. Students who are selected will not only get the chance of a lifetime to attend courses taught by the top professors in the field, they will also have the opportunity to get acquainted and interact with other students from all over the globe. In addition they will also receive major support from the European Commission.
