Brussels, 7th September 2010 – The European Industrial Technologies 2010 conference is being held September 7th through 9th at the Tour & Taxis conference and exhibition centre in Brussels. Dedicated to the integration of nanotechnologies and nanosciences, materials and production technologies, the conference will bring together more than 1000 attendees including the top managers of companies and SMEs active in research, high-level EU political decision-makers and key researchers and scientists from industry and public research organisations.

The industrial technologies of tomorrow

Nanotechnology and nanoscience applications are everywhere now, notably in products like sunscreens, clothing, solar cells and microprocessors. New discoveries resulting in significant industrial applications with the potential to have a major impact on society appear on a regular basis. Yet, a wide range of obstacles is currently slowing the innovation that is absolutely crucial to industry. In addition, when industry develops new production technologies, new materials and new nanotechnologies, it must also take into account greater sustainability for safety and the environment.

  • What are the industrial prospects for recently developed production technologies, materials and nanotechnologies?
  • What are the prospects for European manufacturing from the standpoint of society, environmental sustainability and competitiveness
  • How can industrial innovation be promoted and how can industry meet new challenges and obstacles?
Innovation thanks to greater integration of disciplines

During three days of plenary sessions, scientific experts, entrepreneurs and European decision-makers will share their vision on the best way to bring together disciplines, to share resources and to direct research toward industrial applications and profitable innovations.

Complementary parallel sessions will focus on experiences and approaches to innovation in order to meet challenges in the fields of training and competencies, intellectual property rights and technology transfer, the human dimension, employment, energy and climate change. In addition, an extensive exhibition will present key European projects, notably in the fields of nanoscience and nanotechnologies, as well as innovative production processes.

About Industrial Technologies 2010
The Industrial Technologies Conference is organised by the Belgian Presidency of the EU (represented by the Walloon and Flemish regions), Sirris and Agoria, in cooperation with the European Commission. It intends to be an international forum where industry, research organisations, universities and political decision-makers can discuss possibilities for cooperation and proposals for improved integration in the near future.
