European Territorial Cooperation is removing the borders

Chaired by the Minister President of the Walloon Government, Rudy Demotte, the Tournai conference closed ce vendrediwith the discussion panel on the implementation of European Territorial Cooperation.
The subjects of this final meeting concerned the future directions of the Cooperation Programme, in particular: results measurement, the audit and financing, and the evaluation of INTERREG IV; a discussion on the results of the INTERACT studies (joint evaluations of several programmes) and the future consultation procedure for consulting the European Territorial Cooperation Group.
For 20 years, European Territorial Cooperation has been the third objective of the European Union’s Cohesion Policy. It encourages the regions and cities of the different Member States to work together and to exchange knowledge through programmes, projects and common networks. This policy is based on the idea that a plan for redistribution between the rich regions and the poor regions is necessary in order to offset the negative effects of economic integration.
