EuroPCom launches community for public communicators

News - 19/10/2010 By frederic.depont

The first edition of EuroPCom, the European Public Communication Conference, was held from 12 to 14 October. About 600 public communicators from across Europe could take part in workshops and share knowledge with their colleagues. EuroPCom also launched an online community for public communicators.

Those present could take part in ten different workshops, with a total of ninety speakers and experts. The workshops focused on six different aspects of public communication, such as participation and permanence.  The slides of the presentations will soon also be available on the EuroPComwebsite.

The online community EuroPCom was launched during the conference’s concluding plenary session. Public communicators can become members of this platform and discuss several subjects, share best (and less good) practices and exchange experiences.

Networking and Twittering during the conference

The conference had a pleasant atmosphere, which the participants made use of to network. This networking continued during the dinner in the evening and everyone exchanged plenty of experiences.

There was also a lot of activity on Twitter during the conference. “Great job with the tweets! Being there and following tweets is double fun! #europcom”, yeurbloggeress twittered. “Following #EuroPcom conference and after hearing about lots of good examples from cities and regions wonders how we can connect better?!” wondered ktowen. You can now read all Twitter messages on the EuroPCom website.

Organisation

EuroPCom was organised as part of the Belgian Presidency of the European Union and is an initiative of the Walloon and Flemish government, together with the Committee of the Regions. The Belgian federal government, the Brussels Capital Region and the German-Speaking Community are supporting partners.
