Discover world-class Flemish jazz

News - 23/08/2010 By tristan.hoorelbeke

On this page you can find a free podcast with music of internationally renowned Flemish jazz artists such as the Jef Neve Trio, Koen De Cauter and Bart Defoort. Listen to the podcast and discover Europe in Flemish jazz.

Jazz music often combines local and international influences. That is why this is the genre par excellence to bring people from different countries in contact with each other – which of course is one of the objectives of the European Union.

Thus, the Belgian "young wolves" of the DelVitaGroup were joined by Dutch trumpet player Eric Vloeimans, and the Free Desmyter Quartet has one Belgian, one American, one Sardinian and one Czech member. Flemish jazz musicians have also found inspiration outside Europe: Robin Verheyen, for example, moved to New York at the age of only 23 to be able to perform at the clubs, and Hijaz plays with the contrast between Western and Eastern instruments.

This compilation combines young talent such as the DelVitaGroup and Pierre Anckaert with nationally and internationally renowned artists, such as the Brussels Jazz Orchestra and the De Cauter family. We do wish you a plenty of listening pleasure with the fine fleur of Flemish jazz!
