Permanent exhibition : "The ikob Collection – in progress"

The permanent exhibition "The ikob Collection – in progress" adapts its content in tandem with temporary exhibitions. To create additional dialogue between the different exhibitions, the curator Francis Feidler chooses a selection of works from the museum’s collection.Since 2003, the ikob has housed a collection of works of art known as the "ikob Collection", which features artists of international renown such as Jacques Charlier, Günther Förg and Johan Tahon, to name but a few. Some important regional artists are also presented in the ikob Collection.
The ikob sees itself as a mediator of contemporary art: according to its cross-border location, the ikob exhibits international artists through the medium of temporary exhibitions. Extension of the museum’s exhibition space to 800 m² also makes it possible to show the ‘ikob Collection’ containing important works by international artists (from the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Austria and Germany) on a permanent basis. The exhibition programme detects converging contemporary trends in the national and international artistic scene in the form of individual and thematic exhibitions. The ikob seeks to provide an overview of contemporary art that is as comprehensive as possible by working with temporary exhibitions that adopt different approaches.
