Pacioli-workshops concerning the management and use of agriculture databases
The aim of the Pacioli workshops is to bring people together who use data from agricultural accountancy networks or are involved in their management. The participants will discuss agricultural accounts and micro-economic information for policy support at the workshops.
As agriculture is a sector that is constantly changing, data collection has to evolve along with it. The participants discuss agricultural accounts and micro-economic information for policy support at the workshops. They share experiences of innovation in agricultural accounts and accounting networks, look at innovations and try to learn as much as possible from each other.
Pacioli stands for Panel in Accounting for Innovation, Offering a Lead-up to the use of Information modelling. The Pacioli workshop is organised every year, each time in a different host country. The Agricultural Economic Institute in Wageningen (LEI) puts the programme together and the Agriculture and Fisheries department (Flemish government) takes care of the accommodation and a visit to the grain distillery Filliers in Deinze and the ornamental plant cultivation business Floréac in Lochristie.
The majority of participants work in a team that manages an agricultural accounting network or analyses micro-economic agricultural data from the member states in the European Union. There are also always some participants from countries outside the European Union.
The European Union requires all member states to collect business economics data from a number of agricultural and horticultural companies every year. This data is collected in the European "Farm Accountancy Data Network" (EU-FADN).
