Belgisch voorzitterschap van de Raad van de Europese Unie

Het Instituut voor Sociaal Recht en het Centrum voor Sociaal Beleid van de KU Leuven organiseren op 23 en 24 september 2010 een conferentie rond de sociale zekerheid van reizende onderzoekers. Deze conferentie vindt plaats in Leuven en wordt georganiseerd samen met DG Onderzoek van de Europese Commissie, de Belgische federale overheidsdienst voor sociale zekerheid, de liga van Europese onderzoeksuniversiteiten en het Europees instituut voor sociale zekerheid.

De wereld van onderzoekers is steeds meer geglobaliseerd en mobiliteit is een belangrijk aspect geworden van de loopbaan van een onderzoeker. Een internationaal rondreizende onderzoeker zou zich vrij moeten kunnen bewegen binnen en buiten Europa. Maar vaak wordt hij/zij geconfronteerd met hindernissen in verband met zijn/haar situatie op het vlak van sociale zekerheid.

Na de presentatie van een overzicht van de problemen waar onderzoekers mee te kampen hebben wanneer ze zich tijdelijk in andere landen vestigen, wordt er een synthese gemaakt van de heersende wetgeving. Ten slotte worden er mogelijke oplossingen voorgesteld om de mobiliteit van de onderzoeker te verbeteren en om een positieve stap te zetten in de richting van een echt dynamische Europese onderzoekruimte.

Het Instituut voor Sociaal Recht en het Centrum voor Sociaal Beleid van de KU Leuven organiseren samen met DG Onderzoek van de Europese Commissie, de Belgische federale overheidsdienst voor sociale zekerheid, de liga van Europese onderzoeksuniversiteiten en het Europees instituut voor sociale zekerheid een conferentie rond “de sociale zekerheid van reizende onderzoekers”.
