New Year's fireworks on the Kunstberg/Mont des Arts in Brussels in European colours in honour of the Belgian presidency

According to tradition, New Year's Eve fireworks will be launched from the Kunstberg/Mont des Arts in Brussels on December 31. This year, the event will not only feature a large-scale pyrotechnic spectacle, but also the European colours, and specifically, the colours of the Spanish, Belgian and Hungarian flags.
After all, at midnight, the Belgian presidency of the Council of the European Union officially ends and the torch will be passed to Hungary. This trio presidency started with Spain, which held the presidency for the first half of 2010.
In the extension of the ‘Winterpret’ festivities in the heart of Brussels, on New Year's Eve there will be a DJ on the Kunstberg/Mont des Arts, starting from 10:30 PM, to kick off the celebration. At the stroke of midnight, the fireworks show will erupt to the tune of Spanish, Belgian and Hungarian music. In honour of this dual transition - from 2010 to 2011, and from Brussels to Budapest - the audience will be treated to a dazzling and dynamic sound and light show.
After the last of the fireworks have gone out, the DJ will return to his post so that the audience can dance away the first hours of 2011. Fireworks and a last dance to end the Belgian presidency of the European Union in style…
The event is being organised by the Vereniging ter bevordering en promotie van Brussel and the Belgian Federal Government, in collaboration with the Brussels Capital Region.
