MIR Caravan 2010 will go through Namur from 5 to 15 August
Eleven theatre companies are joining forces for a European tour which will take them from Namur to Moscow during the summer of 2010. In this way these companies from France, Italy, Belgium, Germany, the Czech Republic, Poland and Russia are highlighting the changes that have occurred since the fall of the Iron Curtain. Shows, meetings, mini-concerts, exhibitions, performances and other surprises are on the programme for each one of these stops.
More than twenty years after MIR Caravan 1989, the organisers of “the caravan of peace” are taking to the road again, in order to call boundaries and ideologies into question and to put the accent on the necessity of intercultural dialogue and cooperation in the Europe of the 21st century.
In 1989, this project was the first independent and truly inter-European cultural event in spite of a geopolitical context that prohibited believing in its possibilities... The Berlin Wall was to fall just a few weeks after the Caravan passed through.
The 2010 version is… a travelling village that will unite the four corners of Europe, Russia and Africa!
After Brno, Frankfurt am Main and Villeneuve lez Avignon, the Caravan will alight in Namur, in particular at the Citadel and at the Royal Theatre, from 5 to 15 August 2010.
Please note: this is an exceptional convoy!
