Lift-off towards “Open Government” : putting eEurope in pratice

from 15 December 2010 to 16 December 2010
09:00 - 23:00

Today, eGovernment is being shaped and implemented on national as well as international level. This is why the main theme of this conference concentrates on “Open Government” and the implementation of cross-border interoperability (demonstrated by Large Scale Pilots). The Malmö declaration is being translated into a concrete 2015 Action Plan and will be officially presented during the conference. EU President, Commissioner, Minister and Internationally recognized CEO’s will confirm importance of ICT and DIGITAL (Action) PLAN. An exhibition will live demonstrate (cross-border) applications.

Since the Top of Laken in 2001 there have been several programmes and declarations (Manchester – Lisbon – Malmö), but never have they taken the time to capitalize on all these efforts to show to the outside world what the result is for the citizen and for the industry. Today we are in an era where more and more is being done, not only on national level, but also on international level. This is why the main theme of this conference concentrates on “Open Government” and the implementation of cross-border interoperability.

Several Large Scale Pilots will be demonstrated: STORK, PEPPOL, epSOS, SPOCS. The Malmö declaration is being translated into a concrete Action Plan. This plan will be officially presented during the conference. President Herman Van Rompuy will open the conference, seconded by Commissioner Neelie Kroes and the Belgian Minister Vincent Van Quickenborne. The EUROPEAN DIGITAL PLAN will be presented in detail.

As major Closing session we will invite internationally recognized CEO’s from different continents (US – EU – Asia) and from different sectors (IT – Telecom – Software – Internet) to give us their view on the topics of this conference and to comment on the i2015 Action plan that will be announced during this conference. We have booked 3000m2 space for an exhibition where we will live demonstrate existing (cross-border) applications that are the result of all the political declarations and action plans since the Top of Laken in 2001 and that reinforcing what will be said during the conference.
