Jazz Brugge 2010

Jazz Bruges chooses resolutely for European jazz of high artistic quality. This fifth edition will again take place in three halls. For the first time, we will welcome you every afternoon in the attic of Memling in Sint-Jan, followed by a piano recital in the Kamermuziekzaal (chamber music hall) of the Concertgebouw (concert hall) and two or three concerts in the Concertzaal.
Jazz Bruges is celebrating its fifth anniversary! The biennial festival was first held during the 'Bruges 2002 Cultural Capital of Europe' event, in the then brand-new Concertgebouw.Ever since that first edition a clear preference has been given to European jazz of high artistic quality - not so self-evident in a genre that is historically and commercially dominated by the United States. However, it is a choice that the audience really appreciates, not least because the European jazz musicians interpret their music in adventurous and creative ways. Moreover, the excellent locations and instruments provide the best possible visual and audio experience. This fifth edition will again take place in three halls. For the first time, we will welcome you every afternoon in the quiet attic of Memling in Sint-Jan (Old St. John's Hospital site).Afterwards, there will be a piano recital in the Kamermuziekzaal of the Concertgebouw, followed by two or three concerts in the Concertzaal.
A day pass will give you access the chosen day's activities in the Concertgebouw and one municipal museum in Bruges (www.brugge.be). With a festival pass you can attend all additional content activities and visit all municipal museums throughout the festival. With the festival pass you will also enjoy priority treatment for the concerts in Memling in Sint-Jan and the Kamermuziekzaal of the Concertgebouw.
