Flanders treats 27 member states to cuberdons!

Flanders wants to celebrate the Belgian EU Presidency. To that end it is sending 27 teams of two youngsters to the capital of each Member State. On 18 September they will be handing out delicious Flemish cuberdons (raspberry treacle cone) to the local people.
The Flemish authorities have selected 27 teams of two youngsters to allow each capital to enjoy a typical Flemish delicacy which is also a recognised local product: the one and only cuberdon. This candy is only produced in Flanders and has earned its nickname neuzeke (small nose) to its conical shape which is somewhat reminiscent of a nose. In addition, the EU inhabitants can participate in a competition, and win a city trip to one of the Flemish cities. This will give them the opportunity to personally come and taste all the local Flemish delicacies.
The teams will spend the night at the houses of EU locals through couch surfing, which is entirely in keeping with the spirit of a united Europe. Intercultural exchange, openness and contact with the local people indeed keep the beating heart of Europe and the Europe feeling alive.

Flanders and the Belgian EU-presidency
These activities fit in with a campaign that wants to celebrate Europe and bring Flanders and the EU closer together. It is oriented towards both Flemings and international audiences. We encourage Flemings to discover the European Union, by means of editorials in the Flemish media, a series of summer EU concerts, a large number of socio-cultural events, etc. Also, we encourage European citizens to get to know Flanders a little better.
