Five dates for discovering Franco-Belgian industrial heritage

3 October 2010
09:00 - 18:00

Industrial culture has arrived with the ICI. Event for the general public to launch the ICI – Itinerary of Industrial Culture. Every Sunday in October, the public can discover one of the five thematic routes in the ICI, starting from an ICI partner site. Visits to the sites and the bus trips are available free of charge. Full practical information and details of how to book can be found at www.ici-itineraire.eu

As part of the ICI cross-border project (Interreg IV) and to mark the launch of the tourist map available for distribution from September 2010, the ICI’s six partners are available to meet you every week-end in October and introduce you to the five emblematic routes of industrial culture. This will be an opportunity to cross the border together to discover a complete panorama of the wealth of the Franco-Belgian ore field. To accompany the public launch of ICI, a press conference will be held at Bois du Luc on 30 September 2010. This conference will mark the launch of the five itinerary ‘discovery’ days:

  • Sunday 3 October: introduction to the ‘Social struggle on the move’ route, leaving from Pass (a bus will be chartered by the Hénin-Carvin metropolitan area in France)
  • Sunday 10 October: introduction to the: ‘From ICI or elsewhere, the journey of men, ideas and technologies’ route, leaving from the Hénin-Carvin metropolitan area (a bus will be chartered by Pass)
  • Sunday 17 October: introduction to the ‘Towards the country of Vulcan, the artistic melting-pot’ route, leaving from Bois du Cazier (a bus will be chartered by the Lille Musée d'Histoire Naturelle)
  • Sunday 24 October: introduction to the ‘Art of the engineer’ route, leaving from the Bois du Luc écomusée (a bus will be chartered by the Hénin-Carvin metropolitan area)
  • Sunday 31 October: introduction to the: ‘Marked landscapes’ route, leaving from the Lille Musée d'Histoire Naturelle (a bus will be chartered by the Bois du Cazier.)
