European conference: Green work(s)!
To be held on 12 and 13 October in Bruges, the conference will bring together all participants in the European projects VALUE, Urban Habitats, MP4, SOLABIO, PURPLE and FARLAND. It will provide an opportunity for sharing experience and networking with the participants in these various projects. The theme of the conference is the organisation of multifunctional open areas around cities, with special emphasis on biodiversity. At the end of the conference, recommendations will be formulated for the EEAC (European Environment and Sustainable Development Advisory Councils) and for Flemish and European policy.
The conference will open on 12 October in Bruges’ Magdalenazaal. This will give a presentation of the various participating projects. The opening will be followed by six site visits illustrating best practices.
On 13 October in Oud Sint-Jan in Bruges, there will be workshops and lectures. The theme is ‘green investments in open spaces’. More specific points will be: the integration of biodiversity, the economic benefits of green investments, involvement by the general public and stakeholders and general approach and planning.
The day will conclude with a panel discussion and presentation of the conclusions of the conference. This will be followed by a press conference with key figures.
