Europe and us: instructions
A pioneer in the Youth Information sector, Infor Jeunes Bruxelles Nord Ouest has spent four decades bringing pluralist information to various young audiences. Infor Jeunes Laeken is on the periphery of what has been agreed shall be called the "poor crescent" of Brussels. Among the large majority of young people, and particularly those from working class backgrounds, Europe tends to be reduced to a single currency and a commonplace repeated a thousand times "Brussels, capital of Europe". And that's about all.Providing information about Europe and its institutions, explaining the European political and social challenges, demystifying the workings of what is still perceived as a large undefined entity is part of our mission.
So, we go out to meet young people where they are to be found (schools, community centres, etc.) with appropriate fun educational tools, adopting a proactive attitude to information. Making Europe accessible to young people is a fantastic lever which can encourage the development of active and critical citizenship among young people, with a view to social emancipation. Information as a vector of European democracy. At the end of this information process, the most motivated youngsters will take responsibility for devising and producing a radio broadcast intended for young people on the topic of Europe. This broadcast will be the result of a collaboration with Radio Campus, Brussels' free university community radio station.
