euReka!48 researchers under the microscope
In Brussels, almost 13.000 people work in the world of research. Who are they? What are they researching?
This is what you will discover through the portraits of 48 researchers who all work in Brussels in very diverse and sometimes unsung domains, but often complementary and always stimulating.
Forget the features of the unapproachable scientist: these researchers are our neighbours, our acquaintances, the people you meet in the street or at the gym. During 8 days, these 48 scientists enthusiastically posed in front of Denia Zerouali’s camera in a photo studio in the centre of Brussels.
What do they all have in common? The genes of audacity, curiosity, conviction and determination. And also this passion that the photographer managed to capture and reproduce through these bare portraits.
Thanks to this context high in grey matter, the Brussels-Capital Region is putting itself as a real European crossroads, in terms of scientific and high technology research - which are two essential pillars for a big part of the economy. An economy that always needs innovation to stay efficient.
