Education through media, life-long learning plans

from 2 December 2010 to 3 December 2010
09:00 - 18:00

The goal of this European colloquium is to bring together training practices and policy recommendations in order to stimulate the implementation of life-long education through media to benefit all European citizens.

The emergence of a European policy for education through media comes at a particularly strategic moment and calls for an open and far-reaching dialogue between all the actors concerned. The aim of this European colloquium is to bring together and unify all actors who are involved in the implementation of education through media: educators, trainers, the media industries, educational organisations (school-based or otherwise), education policy decision-makers, research institutions,… .

The objective of this European colloquium is to gather practices and policy recommendations in order to stimulate the implementation of life-long learning through media, for the enrichment of all Europe’s citizens.

The colloquium will offer the chance to

  • Realise a transversal synthesis and a co-ordination of initiatives, recommendations, views derived from multiple European institutions
  • Study how the educational systems of European countries can ensure the integration of education through media within the educational systems
  • Analyse and understand how education through media can contribute to shrinking the digital divide associated with the use of media and networks.
  •  Determine how education through media can  form part of a life-long learning process through continuing education facilities or informal educational sectors (youth organisations, parents’ groups,…)
  •  Establish concrete pathways for training all of the socio-educational players: teachers, trainers and instructors
  • Generating a collection of recommendations aimed at implementing life-long learning through media.
