Creation of a policy tool to set up periodic assessment of the state of the marine environment
The third Meeting of the Whole: "A regular process for global reporting and assessment of the state of the marine environment, including socio-economic aspects". The meeting, scheduled for August of 2010, will look at defining the budgetary and institutional aspects of the process, as well as the content to be added to the main lines.
The development of this regular process is one of the outcomes of the World Summit on Sustainable Development - WSSD 2002.
The meeting, scheduled for August of 2010, will look at defining the budgetary and institutional aspects of the process, as well as the content to be added to the main lines. These main lines pertain to development of competences (capacity building), improving knowledge and methods of analysis, working in networks, and communication.
The implementation and actual launch of the initial round of assessments will be enacted by a UN resolution.
