Aeroweek: European aerospace industry presents policy manifesto to EU decision-makers
Senior representatives of the European aerospace industry gathered in Brussels between November 30th and December 2nd, for a series of events during which they raised awareness of the challenges faced by the sector, as well as of its initiatives in the fields of innovation and environment. On the occasion of this 'AeroWeek', industry leaders presented to key European decision-makers - such as Commission Vice-President Kallas and several Members of the European Parliament - a policy manifesto containing a series of strategic recommendations on the future of European aerospace.

Minister Jean-Claude Marcourt, currently President of the Competitiveness Council for industry, is very pleased with the publication by the Commission of the Communication on Industrial Policy. The Minister intends to lead the Council to conclusions on this flagship Union initiative.
“The Innovation Union strategy is not giving sufficient weight to industry”
The new Innovation Union strategy – a flagship initiative of the Europe 2020 Strategy – gives insufficient weight to industry, according to Jean-Claude Marcourt, President of the EU’s Competitiveness Council and Minister of Economy, Wallonia, at the opening of the Belgian EU Presidency conference dedicated to addressing societal challenges through entrepreneurship and innovation.
Member States are relying on innovation
This was the conclusion of Jean-Claude Marcourt as he brought to a close the Competitiveness Council on industry which ended on Tuesday 12th October in Luxembourg and whose debates were entirely devoted to the Union for Innovation. This is a flagship initiative of the Commission aimed at relaunching the European Union's competitiveness within the context of the EU 2020 strategy.
