SME transfer now has its own European professional association
The Constitutive Assembly of Transeo association took place on 9th December 2010 in Brussels, in the context of the Belgian Presidency of the UE. Transeo is the First European association on SME transfer.
For the first time, a regional Minister-President has appeared before the General Affairs Council of the European Union
On Tuesday, at the General Affairs Council of the European Union, Rudy Demotte presented the conclusions of the informal meeting of Ministers devoted to the Cohesion Policy, which was held in Liège last November.
The European Union unanimously adopts a new industrial policy under the Presidency of Jean-Claude Marcourt
Jean-Claude Marcourt, Minister for the Economy, was successful in getting his Industry colleagues to pass the conclusions of the new European Union Industrial Policy. The conclusions were passed unanimously during the Competitiveness Council for industry which the Walloon Minister will chair through December 31st.

On December 1, 2010, Fadila Laanan, president of the “Culture” section of the Council on “Education, Youth, Culture and Sport”, opened the exhibition of caricatures entitled “C’est la fôte à Bruxelles” (It’s Brussels’ fault). In other words, it's chance to discover the construction that is Europe through the uncompromising, acerbic eyes of a dozen political cartoonists before the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union comes to a close.
Aeroweek: European aerospace industry presents policy manifesto to EU decision-makers
Senior representatives of the European aerospace industry gathered in Brussels between November 30th and December 2nd, for a series of events during which they raised awareness of the challenges faced by the sector, as well as of its initiatives in the fields of innovation and environment. On the occasion of this 'AeroWeek', industry leaders presented to key European decision-makers - such as Commission Vice-President Kallas and several Members of the European Parliament - a policy manifesto containing a series of strategic recommendations on the future of European aerospace.
Kick-off of the first stage of the European Year of Volunteering 2011 Tour of Europe
This Friday 3 December, Fadila Laanan, Minister for Culture, the Audiovisual Sector, Health and Equal Opportunities of the French-speaking Community of Belgium, Chair of the “Culture and Audiovisual” section of the “Education, Youth and Sport” Council of the European Union within the framework of the Belgian Presidency 2010, Joke Schauvliege, Minister for Culture of the Flemish Community, and Isabelle Weykmans, Minister for Culture of the German-speaking Community, will officially give the signal to start the Belgian stage of the Tour of Europe of the European Year of Volunteering 2011.
Media literacy for all!
This Thursday 2 and Friday 3 December 2010, more than 300 experts met together in Brussels in order to participate in the international colloquium “Media Literacy For All” organised by the French-speaking Community of Belgium within the framework of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Synerjob: A vision of employment for 2020
Bringing together the principal European actors in employment around the table, this 1 December the Forem and the partners of Synerjob organised the conference “The Vision for Public Employment Services (PES) for 2020”. The subjects covered went from new assistance processes and career development management to synergies between training, orientation and employment.

Jean-Claude Marcourt: "How can we promote European competitiveness?"
The Ministers for Industry of the European Union held a meeting on November 25th in Brussels chaired by Jean-Claude Marcourt, the Walloon Minister for the Economy, SMEs, Foreign Trade and New Technologies. They exchanged views on industrial policy, a flagship initiative launched by the European Commission. The debate paved the way for conclusions that should be adopted at the Competitiveness Council on 10 December 2010.
