  • First deputy mayor of Louvain in charge of finance, culture and tourism (1995 - 2000)
  • Acting burgermeister of Louvain (1998)
  • Federal deputy (2003 – 2007)
  • First deputy mayor of Louvain in charge of finance, sport and the self-employed (2001 - 2006)
  • First deputy mayor of Louvain in charge of finance, sport, trade and agriculture (2007 - ...) currently replaced by Els Van Hoof due to justified absence
  • Federal deputy, first vice-chairman of the Commission on Finance and the Budget of the Chamber of Representatives, chairman of the Commission on Military Procurement (2007 - ...), currently replaced by Ingrid Claes due to justified absence
