The building of the Council of the European Union in Brussels is being decorated in an original way for the occasion of the Belgian EU presidency. Famous fashion designers have designed silhouettes with clothing donated from the Spullenhulp/Petits Riens depot, a charity that collects old objects for the benefit of social projects. This initiative highlights the European Year 2010 for combating poverty and social exclusion. Alongside the silhouettes that can be admired throughout the whole Council Building, there is also a photography exhibition on "the making of" of the designs.

It is our ambition to create a forum where European policy makers, scientists and intermediaries can meet each other. They will be able to focus on the historical dimension of youth work and youth policy, without losing sight of the current youth policy, during a debate and various workshops. As well as geographical differences, the people present will also have backgrounds in different disciplines. This creates a good mixture, and forms the ideal introduction to the First European Youth Work Convention (7 - 10 July 2010).
This Convention will focus on the role of youth work: to make the various advantages, needs, characteristics, strengths and contributions to society visible, and to provide a stimulus for a future agenda and action plan. The Convention intends to accomplish this together with the youth workers and youth organisations themselves, but also with governments and researchers from the 49 countries of the Council of Europe. This Pan-European approach to the convention aims to strengthen youth work across Europe by stimulating networking, mutual understanding, reflection and learning, and by issuing a declaration.
