Barge-to-Business Conference and Networking Evening - Platina
Barge-to-Business aims to promote contact between industry and inland navigation and create a political platform for inland navigation. During the conference and the networking evening, interested parties will have the opportunity to network and share knowledge.
The Barge-to-Business conference will open and close with a plenary session. Flemish Minister for mobility and Public Works Hilde Crevits will provide opening or closing remarks. The networking evening follows the first day of the Conference.
During the conference, participants will be able to take part in two parallel circuits:
- Riverdating: suppliers of services for water transport and potential inland navigation users can meet each other here. All inland navigation partners of the Flemish government have been invited.
- Information market: in 30 minute sessions, different topics will briefly be presented. The sessions consist of project presentations, debates, testimonials, …
At the conference, a number of good practices from Flanders will be discussed as well as various topics that may be of importance for the further development of inland navigation in Flanders:
- integral approach in the project Seine-Schelde;
- collaboration between Waterwegen en Zeekanaal NV and nv De Scheepvaart with transport consultants (business cases);
- public-private partnerships (ppp) for the quay walls programme;
- pallet transport;
- logistical pilot project Albertkanaal.
This will occur both at the information market as well as at a stand in the event hall.
The conference will be held prior to the formal Council of Transport Ministers which will take place on 2 and 3 December 2010.
The Barge-to-Business conference will take place within the context of the European implementation platform Platina. Platina is the platform of the European Commission for the implementation of the European inland navigation action plan Naiades. Partners of Barge-to-Business are: the European Commission, Platina, the Flemish government, Rijkswaterstaat, Voies Navigables de France (VNF) and the French Ministry for Sustainable Development.
