Accreditation

Media accreditation

All media professionals must ensure they are duly accredited for events organised in connection with the Belgian Presidency of the European Union Council in good time and not later than 7 days before the start of the meeting at which they wish to be present, failing which they may be refused access to the meeting venue. Accreditations are not granted automatically, they are issued on the basis of security checks.

Belgium is also the headquarters of European institutions. Please note that for European Councils and Councils of Ministers held at the Juste Lipse in Brussels or in Luxembourg, accreditation can be obtained via the site : www.consilium.europa.eu

Permanent badges – event badges

Permanent badges

No new applications may be submitted for permanent accreditation for all meetings within the framework of the Belgian Presidency. Applications for permanent accreditation submitted through 6 October 2010 will still be processed, however, and this will continue through 6 November 2010.

Venues and times

For those applications already submitted and which are approved, the badge can be picked up by appointment with Mr. Xavier Burre, Foreign Affairs Press Office, Karmelietenstraat 15, 1000 Brussels, xavier.burre@diplobel.fed.be, +32 (0) 2 501 32 35.

Event accreditation

If you are only interested in a single event for which you obtained accreditation online, the badge will be issued at the meeting venue. The exact time and place for the collection of badges will be communicated by the respective organisers.

When collecting your badge, please bring with you the following documents (valid to 31.12.2010):

  • Passport/or identity card
  • official press card
  • in the absence of a valid official press card the original letter of reference from the commissioning media body written in French, Dutch, German or English.

Conditions of entry onto Belgian territory

Accreditation does not obviate the need for the issue of legal authorisation to enter the territory.

Entry onto Belgian territory for the nationals of some countries is subject to the presentation of a valid visa. Information on how to obtain a visa can be obtained on the FPS Foreign Affairs website:
