The website of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union is the product of collaboration between the Belgian Federal Public Service of Foreign Affairs and the Federal Public Service of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister. The website will be the Presidency’s communication hub and will be updated throughout the Presidency, from 1 July 2010 to 1 December 2010.
A website… to mirror the Presidency…
The official website (www.eutrio.be) is the original information source and the Presidency’s main channel of communication. Under the "News and Documents" and "Calendar" links, you will find a plethora of information on all meetings held and events staged during the Presidency.
A website for the duration…
The website of the Belgian Presidency of the EU Council was constructed using Drupal, a free, open source content management system (CMS) which allows structured, personalised content to be created in the Presidency colours. Drupal, which originated in Belgium and has proven its worth in creating multilingual websites and integrating new technologies, has satisfied the Belgian Presidency’s objective of creating a website in four languages (NL/FR/DE/EN) which is accessible to the general public.
A website … which is the product of collaboration
The Press Office of the Belgian Federal Public Service of Foreign Affairs will publish texts on the website from various sources: internal departments at the FPS Foreign Affairs and other federal public services, as well as various departments in the communes and regions. This collaboration will ensure that messages from the Presidency are broadcast as widely and as accurately as possible, especially under the "Presidency" link, which provides an overall and coherent view of the priorities, challenges and results of the Belgian Presidency.
A website for the general public
This is a user-friendly website designed both for professionals (press, diplomats, civil servants) and also for the general public. The website is designed to step up the challenge of presenting the European Union and Belgium in a dynamic light and therefore integrates several tools, such as quizzes, blogs, social networking, surveys, newsletters etc.
A website that is accessible…
This website is designed to be widely accessible and meets the accessibility criteria of the Anysurfer label.
