27th SOLVIT Network Workshop
The SOLVIT network is an informal dispute resolution tool within the internal market, active in 30 European countries (27 Member States, plus Liechtenstein, Norway, and Iceland). SOLVIT Belgium has been integrated into the Foreign Affairs FPS. At the 27th Workshop (24-25 November 2010), SOLVIT centre representatives will convene to take stock of the functioning and future of the network, within the framework of a week under the Belgian Presidency dedicated to transposition and application of community legislation.
In 2010, SOLVIT Belgium will co-host the 27th SOLVIT Workshop in Brussels along with the team from the European Commission. This is a first, both for our country and for the event to be held under the Presidency of the host country.
Each year, two or three SOLVIT Workshops are held at European capitals, attended by representatives from each centre and from the commission team. They offer an opportunity for the various SOLVIT centres to exchange information on the main problems at hand, to discuss the future of the network, or even to comment on common approaches.
The Belgian Workshop fits into the broader framework of a full week dedicated to transposition and application of community law under the Belgian Presidency. On 22 and 23 November, the Directorate-General for Legal Affairs will open the week with a Conference on transposition of European directives into national legislative frameworks. On 24 and 25 November, the SOLVIT centre will organise a Workshop on good practices for application and enforcement of community law.
