27th Meeting of Heads of Public Employment Services (HoPES) in the EU/EEA area and EURES High Level Strategy Group
The “Meeting of Heads of Public Employment Services” is a closed meeting chaired by the European Commission‘s DG for Employment, Social affairs and Equal Opportunities. Subjects for discussion include labour market policy and implementation issues as well as ways in which public employment services are working to enable Member States to achieve the Lisbon Strategy goals.
The EU/EEA Public Employment Service Network is steered by an annual work programme in which political priorities and common activities are defined. The Chief Executives/Heads of the national Public Employment Services decide on this work programme as they regularly meet in the country holding the rotating EU Presidency. They discuss labour market policy and implementation issues as well as ways in which public employment services are working to enable Member States to achieve the Lisbon Strategy goals.
The European network of Public Employment Services was created in 1997 to promote co-operation, exchange and mutual learning between its member organisations. Chaired by the Commission, the Chief Executives/Heads of the national Public Employment Services meet twice a year in order to support the modernisation of employment service delivery systems and to optimise the contribution of Public Employment Services to the implementation of the European Employment Strategy on the one hand and to the integration of the European labour market on the other hand. In addition, they issue position papers on labour market issues of common interest. The Public Employment Service Network comprises the Public Employment Services of the EU Member States, Norway and Iceland (EEA).
Organised by the Flemish Public Employment and vocational training service, VDAB together with Forem, Actiris, ADG and the European Commission.
