27 / STAR STREET Here a tale, there a rhyme...

8 December 2010
14:00 - 17:00

Here a tale, there a rhyme… is a combined programme of sessions centred on the oral tradition. A collection of nursery rhymes from the countries of the European Union has been published in a brochure in their original language, together with a French translation.

27 / STAR STREET is a cultural exercise organised by the public reading network of Walloon Brabant. It is designed to help us live together better in Europe and to foster intercultural dialogue and rapprochement between the citizens of Europe.

A number of story sessions will be held in autumn 2010 in numerous libraries in Walloon Brabant: Braine-l’Alleud, Court-Saint-Etienne, Jodoigne, La Hulpe, Nivelles, Ottignies, Louvain-la-Neuve, Rixensart, Rebecq, Tubize and the Hannut mobile library.

27 nursery rhymes are to be published in a brochure, accompanied by a dvd. The public is invited to come and discover European nursery rhymes at an event + tea at 14.00 on 8 December 2010 in Jodoigne public library.

Le Grand’Shlam is a slam session, i.e. a mixture of open stage and guest performances. It is a space for expression and free speech in public. A slam is important in a democracy as a meeting place and as a place for free expression. It can help to foster a sense of community and cultivate freedom. As a form of social expression, a slam has a place in democracy. It might even be seen as a civic act!
